BUSINESS VISAS FOR AUSTRALIA
Business visa is designed for business persons to travel Australia for business purposes, for example, to attend a conference or training session, to conduct business with an Australia-based company, to conduct business negotiations or for an exploratory business visit.

Types of ETA Business Visas
There are two types of short term business visas for Australia (up to three months) which can be applied online:
  • eVisitor visa (subclass 651) is available to passport holders from the European Union and a number of other European countries.


  • ETA Business Entrant visa (Subclass 956 and 977) is available to passport holders from Brunei, Canada, Hong Kong (SAR), Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and United States of America.
SHORT STAY eVisitor BUSINESS VISA FOR AUSTRALIA
An eVisitor visa (subclass 651) is for people who are outside Australia and want to visit Australia for business purposes including attending a conference, negotiation or exploratory business visit. You can stay in Australia for up to three months on each visit within a 12 month period from the date of grant. The citizen passports issued by the following countries are eligible for eVisitor visa:

Note: Holders of a British National Overseas (BNO) passport are not eligible to apply for an eVisitor.
What is Business eVisitor visa?
A business eVisitor visa is an electronically stored authority for travel to Australia. You can apply for an eVisitor visa online and do not require to visit a immigration departmental office. You will not a visa in your passport, however you will be provided with a confirmation email for your records.

Your eVisitor visa is linked to the passport number you use in your application and you must use the same passport to travel to Australia. If you a new passport, you must advise the department of the new passport before you travel to Australia.

ETA Business Entrant Visa for Australia
ETA Business Entrant visa for short term (subclass 977) and ETA Business Entrant visa for long term (subclass 956) two different types of ETA Business Entrant visas for Australia. These ETA visa types are designed for business people who are outside Australia and want to visit Australia for short-term business purposes, including attending educational or business related meetings, seminars, conventions, conferences, or networking, informal studies or training.

With ETA Business Entrant visa (Short Validity - subclass 977), you can stay in Australia for up to three months on each visit within a 12 month period from the date of grant, or for the life of the passport if it is less than 12 months (single or multiple entry).

ETA Business Entrant visa (Long Validity - subclass 956) allows you to stay in Australia for up to three months on each visit for the life of the passport (multiple entry). To find more information about ETA Business visas click here.
What are the conditions when getting an Australian ETA Business visa?
  • You must not engage in work in Australia that might otherwise be carried out by an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident
  • Work is generally not allowed, however, you may be able to engage in limited work if for example it is highly specialised and non ongoing (generally less than six (6) weeks). Note: To fill an ongoing position or if your main reason for coming to Australia is to work, you should apply for a Business (Long Stay) subclass 457 visa or another appropriate visa.
  • You must not engage in any studies or training for more than three months.
  • You must be free from tuberculosis at the time of travel to, and entry into, Australia.
  • You must not have any criminal convictions, for which the sentence or sentences (whether served or not) are for a total period of 12 months duration or more, at the time of travel to, and entry into, Australia.
